Microsoft releases a .docx converter for Mac, but no support for other apps yet

It's a little hard for me to believe that this converter only converts to Rich Text files, but I guess it's better than nothing.  Note that the beta is set ot expire in December of 2007, so presumably MS will have a better solution that hopefully extends to all types of Office 2007 application document types before that.

Yes, but sometimes there is a need for online conversion from .docx to .doc. If you are in a hurry, before a last minute deadline and don't have time to download and install the .docx-converter. Or if you are at an internet cafe without install-permissions.

http://www.docx2doc.com/ is a tool for online conversion. In just a few clicks you can get your .doc-file back without the hazzle of downloading and installing a file. However, for a more permanent solution this compatibility pack from Microsoft is the best option.
