Zillow now allows users to claim their home and add additional information (i.e., remodels) about the home to help come up with a more accurate value. In addition, if, like my home, the data that Zillow has about number of bedrooms, bathrooms, etc. is wrong, you can fix that information as well. Once you have completed the multi-step process of updating home information and values, you can then choose to make your estimate public or to keep your estimate private. If you are in the process of selling your home, there’s no reason not to ensure that all of the information is correct on Zillow.

Do you find Zillow to be accurate? It is overstating the value of my house by 15-20%. I live suburban DC and it has plenty of comps to work with in the neighborhood.
I've definitely seen some inaccuracies with Zillow, specifically an understatement of my home's value and an inaccurate number of bedrooms and bathrooms. Due to the issues stated in the previous sentence, I was happy to see the service that allows me to update the information myself to provide a more accurate description and valuation of my home.
Obviously Zillow is not yet perfect, but it's nice to be able to at least get baseline information about neighborhoods without having to involve a realtor.
With today's identity crises, is it wise to update home info on Zillow? And also, will municipalities utilize it to reassess values if you up the value of your own home with updates, etc?
