Seems like there’s a lot of split opinions on this, but this post on TUAW states that the Sony NAS-CZ1 will support the Apple iTunes DRM scheme. If this actually happens, it will be the first non-Apple produced piece of hardware that supports the protocol (unless the iTunes phone by Motorola gets released sometime). Does this begin to signal a shift by Apple to opening up its DRM standard? We’ll see what happens, but don’t expect to see AAC compatibility in Windows Media Player anytime soon.
